Harrods Hill is a neighborhood in southwestern Lexington, KY that is located just outside New Circle Road adjacent to Harrodsburg Road in the 40513 zip code. Development of this community was begun in the early 1980's with construction on the last home completed in 1997. Mature trees abound in this tree-lined neighborhood. Trails for walking, jogging and biking adjoin the neighborhood, as well as a park and a neighborhood pool. Beaumont Centre and Palomar Centre offer a variety of shopping experiences within walking distance. In times of need, the people of Harrods Hill are known for pulling together to help their neighbors and friends. It is not unusual for neighbors to join together in tree planting, snow removal and to keep watch over the safety of the neighborhood. Work Residents of Harrods Hill work mostly in Lexington and the surrounding areas. Easy access to Interstate 64 and Interstate 75 enables travel north, south, east and west. Bluegrass Field is a short ride away and makes national and international air travel a comfortable task. School Harrods Hill residents can attend some of the best schools Lexington has to offer. Rosa Parks Elementary School and Paul Lawrence Dunbar Science Magnet High School are both within walking distance. Middle school children attend Beaumont Middle School, a short bus ride away. Play Neighborhood children have a lot of opportunities for play. Streets are generally low traffic and quite safe for biking, skating and 'boarding. The neighborhood includes 12 acre Harrods Hill Park which contains four soccer fields with netted goals, basketball courts, a playground and adjacent off-street parking. Picnic tables and grills are located under shade trees at the Park's edge. A cupola provides shelter in the event of a sudden shower. Paved walking trails run around and through the park. The Harrods Hill swimming pool and tennis courts are located adjacent to the park, and memberships to this facility are available through the Harrods Hill Pool website. A state-of-the-art recreational YMCA opened in 2001 and is within easy foot travel distance. A new public library is located nearby and is also within walking distance. Neighbors seeking more challenging outdoor exercise have the opportunity to bike or jog along the protected sidewalks of Man-O-War Boulevard to Keeneland Raceway and to the verdant and picture-perfect horse farms that are located on low traffic roads behind Keeneland.
